While this may not be major news persay, it seems intriguing at the least that Sega has decided to acquire publish rights of this game. This may be a very wise move on sega’s part. Promising to be the best FPS the wii has to offer, the game is coming along way from being the typical Halo wannabe to a rather distinguisable FPS classic. The action and gameplay looks to be fluid, which isn’t too common in the FPS Wii gaming world.

For those who have been looking forward to the game (I am definitly) I am happy to say that the game should be available as early as next spring.

What happens when you mix supreme turtleyness with the smash bros formula? No it’s not a Bowser vs. Squirtle death match. We’re talking about a new TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) fighting game made by game arts. Well not exactly, apparently Ubisoft was really digging to bring the Teenage mutant ninja turtles series to life because they combined Game Arts with Team Ninja (of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive fame). Such a combination of talent making a fighting game is usually only made in dreams.

.

For those pondering The new game (still untitled) is basically a free for all melee fest of turtles characters put on very smash bros esque stages to combat each other in traditional fighting sense. This game won’t be a complete replica of the smash bros series but from reports, there will be obvious similarities including a 2.5D fighting style, interactive stages and items (hopefully no barrels), and possibly even physics similarities as well (it’s already been mentioned that a sort of momentum polpulsion will be used to identify damage power. It’s slated for a end quarter 2009 release and even now the graphics are looking to easily outdo brawl (it has also been suggested to have a superior wifi as well).

Those who are still weary of TMNT’s past should be reminded of the comercial success of Jump Stars, another game made by the developers of smash bros. While it may be too early to tell now, we should all keep our eyes on the look out when this turtley smash bros game comes out the end of next year. Who knows, this be the smash bros game we had wished for when SSBB was released

Recently to help advertise this christmas season, Nintendo has teamed up with Burger King to do several promotions. One such promotion is the advertisement of new nintendo themed Burger King toys. As all of us would know, most fast food promotional toys are on the cheap side (minus the completely awesome Wendy’s mario promotional). Never the Less while some of the figures are the traditional gimmicky paper bad eggs, there are alot of decently made nintendo figures that you may want to add to your collection.

most of the toys are Mario inspired (with the exception of one Metroid playball toy). Also from the list, there is a mario kart Yoshi figure and a spin & twirl Peach figure. All action figures run off of a crank operation mechanism in the shape of a wiimote. Promotions will end as soon as stock runs out, so if you’re interested you may want to jump on the bandwagon now.

News Includes:

The Bi-yearly video game units, consoles, and hardware sales (all sales are as of September 2008) are IN!

Super Smash Bros. Brawl becoming the best-selling fighting game of all-time, passing it’s prequel, Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Mario Kart Wii outselling Halo with about 1 1/2 million units to spare, making it the best-selling non Wii series game this generation.

The Wii owning the PS3 and 360.

The DS owning the PSP.

Wii, DS, PS3, PSP, and 360 sales.

Pictures of Homelessvagrant picking his nose (just kidding [although I do wish I had them])

So with that said, here comes the Gaming Sales news!

According to the September bi-yearly Nintendo sales check, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has sold a total of 7.47 million units as of September 30th, outselling it’s prequel Super Smash Bros. Melee 7.09 million units sold, making it the best-selling fighting game of all-time in just under 8 months. Now that’s incredible. Melee took about 5 1/2 years to outsell the collection of Street Fighter II (series), including the original game, expansioned games, remakes, re-releases, and ports. Melee outsold the original best-selling video game of all-time, the origianl Super Nintendo (Super Famicom) version of Street Fighter II after about 3 to 3 1/2 years. You know what this means? Brawl’s sales are constantly going up, and it’s aiming at passing Halo 3′s 8.1 million units sold on the 360, as well as Mario Kart Wii’s 9.53 million units sold, which have all but set the 1st party Wii game sales apart from Microsoft’s and Sony’s sales.

In other news, the Wii has managed to outsell BOTH the Gamecube and Nintendo 64, selling a total of 34.55 million console units as of September 2008. The Wii remains the fastest-selling console of all-time, making the Playstation 2 and their own Nintendo DS’s sales look like a joke. And you know what? The console is STILL SOLD OUT 2 years post-release. The way things look for the Wii, it could easily pass the PS2′s 141 million console units sold mark, and will easily reach 150 million units sold at this pace by the consoles’ end, and possibly even 200 million if all goes well. The Sony Playstation has sold a total of 16.84 million console units as of September 2008, while the Microsoft Xbox 360 has sold a total of 22 million console units as the same date-only 2 million console units behind the original Xbox. In other words, the Wii has almost sold more then the PS3 and 360 COMBINED! However, it should be noted the PS3 percentage-wise sales are gaining the fastest, while the Wii’s are the most constant, mostly due to the system still being sold out. Yes-still sold out. I still can’t believe it.

In other news, the DS has sold a total of 84.33 million console units as of Septmber 2008, outselling the Gameboy Advance’s 81.36 million untis sold (which has been out for about a decade, in about 4 years. Nintendo is truely dominating the gamimg market at this pace. The Gameboy/Gameboy Color still remains the best-selling handheld of all-time, unless you count them seperate handheld consoles, in which case the DS is the best-selling handheld console of all-time. The Playstation Portable is also doing good, selling 41 million console units, but still too far away from the DS to even compete.

In other words, the clear winner is Nintendo this generation, destroying both competetors, and totalling annilanating the competition in both major console genres.

That is all. Until next time, remain Super Awesome ya’lls.

~His Knightlyness Himself~

The Virtual Console started off great in 2006, and in 2007 the sucess and great titles kept coming (for the most part). However in 2008 we had a long drought after Crusin’ USA and the Secrets of Mana’s release in early 2008 (mainly due to WiiWare, with great titles like Dr. Mario RX, Defend Your Castle, Wario Land: Shake It!, Mega Man 9, and World of Goo), although Double Dragon and River City Ransom did a okay job at stopping any “short death” of the Virtual Console. But then this “drought” ended in June in Japan, August in Europe and Australia, and September in North America (as it’s 250th Virtual Console game) when these regions all got a massively amazing game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, which started a mainstream Virtual Console comback (which I might add SMRPG is the best-selling game on the Virtual Console). Since then the Virtual Console has made a comeback, with Clu-Clu Land (Nevermind. It’s okay at best) Mega Man 1 and 2 being released on the Virtual Console (despite being released in Europe in 2007), and Mario Golf being released about 4 weeks ago in Japan, about 3 weeks ago in North America, and will probably hit PAL shores soon.

Still, there are tons of Virtual Console games from Nintendo consoles that need to be added to the list of available list of games. That is why I made this list. I’m going to list the top 25 most worthy Nintendo Entertainment System/Nintendo Famicom NES that need to be on the Virtual Console that currently are not on the Virtual Console.

Keep in mind some games have better non-Nintendo console versions, were ported to a Nintendo console, and so forth, and that may be a reasoning for them not being on this list. Also, this is only for games that were on the NES. I hope to do lists of the SNES and N64 in the future, and they are in the works-I promise you that (it was originally suppose to be the top 25 Nintendo console games that need to be on the Virtual Console, but there are too many good games not on the Virtual Console that need to be, so I tripled the number, lol!). Anyways, without furter ado, here is the list! Honorable mentions:

-Nintendo World Cup (Famicom-only; Made & Published by Nintnedo) – One of the first 4-player games released on the Famicom, it was a moderate sucess on the system. Now with a recent Virtual Console release in Japan, a release outside of Japan is definitely possible (especially in PAL regions where Soccer is more popular). An interesting title to add world wide, to say the least.

-Clu Clu Land D (Made & Published by Nintendo) – The sequel to Clu Clu Land, this is basically the same game, but with some extra stuff. It’s not really better then Clu Clu Land, yet not really worst. I don’t know. You have to try it out for yourself to see what I mean.

-Snake’s Revenge (Made & Published by Konami) – Made without creator Hideo Kojima’s knowledge, this game followed Metal Gear’s blue prints-and added Contra-like elements to it, as well as stealth. Switiching between stealth and action is a huge part of the game, and you got to know when to do both. It would be an interesting Virtual Console release, and would defnitely attract Metal Gear fans to it. Heck-Hideo Kojima could promote it (since he says he enjoys it so much, but not as much as other Metal Gear games). It would definitely be an interesting add.

-Wild Gunman (Made & Published by Nintendo) – This game was one of the few games that used NES Zapper, and followed through with Duck Hunt’s blue prints of awesomeness. Rereleasing it on the Virtual Console would definitely raise awareness (and sales) for the WiiZapper. It would be a great promo for any big WiiZapper-using games-like The Conduit!

-Fire Emblem Gaiden (Fire Emblem 2; Famicom-only; Made by Intelligent Systems [a Nintendo 1st Party Company] & Published by Nintendo) – Fire Emblem Gaiden is a side-story to the original Fire Emblem, and takes places before, during, and even after the original in a different part of the world. Featuring incredible gameplay upgrades, a “different” story, and interesting gameplay tweaks, it has recently gotten more respect, although it still is generally seen as somewhat “black sheep”-ish status. Still, it would be a great title to release (since it had a fairly good song in Brawl), and releasing it outside of Japan would also get a lot of sales for Smash and Fire Emblem fans outside of Japan alike, as well as some [interested] Japanese Fire Emblem fans. It would be an interesting title to release on the Virtual Console, to say the least.

-Dragon Quest II (released outside of Japan as Dragon Warrior II; Made & Published by Enix [now Square Enix) - Seen as the "black sheep" of the Dragon Quest series, Dragon Quest II failed to reach the popularity of the original. However recently it has gotten more noteriety, and has gotten more respect. It would definitely be a worthy title to add to the Virtual Console, since it basically has nothing else going for it. Now if only Square Enix got around to doing that for it...

-Nintendo VS. (Famicom-only; Made & Published by Nintendo [with 3rd party support for their games in this game) - This game consists of several "Vs." [modes] for several NES/Famicom games, and really is great. The reason I am excluding ths game from the list however is that it isn’t very well-known, it would require a ton of legal work to re-release it on the Virtual Console, and I don’t see Nintendo ever releasing it-especially for 500 Wii Points (more like 5,000 Wii Points), and it’s not ”technically” a NES or Famicom game, and is a arcade game featuring several popular Nintendo and Famicom games in Arcade form. Still, it’s an incredible game with a lot of great games in it with their best form [of multiplayer], and I suggest it to any of your retro gamers or fans of games that are in it. Definitely worth trying out…just not the real version for like $500. Seriously, use NES/Famicom emulation and a ROM instead=you can spend that $500 on good Virtual Console, Wii, a PS3 and DS games! Or you could get a CD-i, and get the 3 Zelda CD-i games and Hotel Mario!!! :D

The Top 25

25. Crystalis (Made & Published by SNK) – This action-orientated and interesting game was underrated by gamers when released (although revieweres loved it), and recently became a cult classic, much like River City Ransom. Why it isn’t on the Virtual Console is beyond me. It’s definitely a title worth adding. Defintely.

24. Devil World (Famicom-only; Made & Published by Nintendo) – Devil World was recently shown to the world in Brawl with the Devil AT (and the antagonist named “Tamagon” was a Melee trophy, and was the only one removed from the non-Japanese versions of Melee), and with a recent OFLC rating, it may soon come global. A platformer made by Shigeru Miyamoto and made similiar to Pac-man in many ways, it would be a great classic to release on the Virtual Console, and would definitely raise a few eyebrows for potential buyers.

23. Knight Lore (Famicom version/Famicom only; made by Tim and Chris Stamper [also known as an early Rare], and Published by Ultimate Play The Game) – Rare’s first “real” hit that made Rare become a company (versus two people working for as a department of a company), this adventure puzzle game became a moderate sucess in Japan. A good title from the Rare founders/early Rare that is definitely worth adding, and would be an easy and simple addition to the Virtual Console. It would also attract a lot of Rare fans-thus it would be a great addition to the Virtual Console.

22. Dragon Quest III (released outside of Japan as Dragon Warrior III; Made & Published by Enix [now Square Enix]) – Dragon Quest is a very well-known series (especially in Japan), and this game is no exception. With popularity right behind Dragon Quest I and IV levels, this game would be a worthy addition to the Virtual Console. With Square Enix’s release of good games now beginning with Super Mario RPG-and with this game having no recent remakes, it would be a good time to release this game. Seriously-get it on the Virtual Console Square Enix, and it will sell like crazy, guarenteed. I mean it.

21. Metal Gear (NES/Famicom Version [even if the MSX2 Version is far superior. A version featuring features, levels, and areas from both games would be the best idea]; Made & Published by Konami (in the Konami department now know as Kojima Productions) – Metal Gear. The game that started the afamed heavily story-based (but more and superior gameplay and stealth-based) series we all know and love. Metal Gear went away from the general shooter ideas of “Run and gun”, and introduced stealth, and become a hit for it (on the NES), put Metal Gear on the map, and saved Hideo Kojima’s career from ending. With great graphics, amazing locales, one of the best stories of the generation (although I give the best story of the 3rd generation of gaming to it’s sequel, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake), original and crazy bosses, an interesting alert system, and awesome characters, Metal Gear is a classic that needs to be on the Virtual Console. Seriously.

20. Zoda’s Revenge: StarTropics II (NES-only; Made & Published by Nintendo) – StarTropics is one of the few North America-only Nintendo titles ever, and it was a smashing sucess, and gained somewhat of a cult following. StarTropics was also a big hit on the Virtual Console as well, and the 2nd in the series would be a great addition to the Virtual Console library, with all those great levels, insane bosses (and there are a lot of bosses), and cool abilities. Definitely a game worth adding.

19. Mega Man 5 (Made & Published by Capcom) – Mega Man 5 is well….Mega Man. 3 might be released later this year or next year, so we are bound to see it. Definitely a game worth adding, despite being rushed, and falling to the now “Madden same-ole’ stuff” syndrome. Seriously-some of these robot masters are really lame, but at least the story is probably the best out of all the NES Mega Man games (competiting with 6, and not counting 9). It’s bound to happen….eventually…

18. Bionic Commando (NES/Famicom Version; Made & Published by Capcom) – Bionic Commando is recently making a comeback with a Xbox Live Arcade new game coming out, and a full sequel coming out soon. So naturally, the original platformer legend coming out on the Virtual Console (and PSN and XBLA) would be a great idea, right? OF COURSE IT WOULD! That’s why Capcom should totally do it. It would be a great title to release for a potential even greater title. Definitely.

17. Mega Man 6 (Made by Capcom, & Produced by Nintendo) – Mega Man 6 is the last Mega Man game on the NES, and was the last to be a part of this “Mega Man game a year” “Madden [rush it]” syndrome. Fortunately it introduced a lot of good features to make up for it, including awesome bosses, interesting boss stats, some of the best levels in the series (I MEAN IT!), an awesome final level, a great story (for a 3rd generation of gaming game), and a lot of cool extras. O, and those awesome boss-stealing power-up weapons. It will definitely come to the Virtual Console sometime, but when is the question. With Mega Man games are getting added to the Virtual Console outside of Europe recently-however they are getting added very slowly, this game might take a while to reach the Virtual Console. Hopefully sooner rather then later.

16. Final Fantasy II (Famicom-only; Made & Published by Square Soft [now Square Enix]) – Final Fantasy II is often heavily underrated, and is really a jewel of gaming. Following a story similiar to the science-fiction movie hit Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope)-only in like medieval times with some futurist stuff and magic instead of the foce, you got a Rebellion fighting a Empire and their dreaded weapon (which flies around in the sky. You can even see it fly around when travelling on “the world map”). Filled with tons of plot twists (probably the best story-telling Final Fantasy games out of all the NES Final Fantasy games), lots of deaths (like a few party members and main characters die), awesome bosses, an interesting (although sometimes slow) battle system, lots of locales, lots of ability possibilities and customization, and so forth, Final Fantasy II is a very worthy addition to the Virtual Console. Defintely.

15. Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse (made and published by Konami [published by Palcom in Japan) - The last Castlevania game of the 3rd generation of gaming and on the NES/Famicom, this game is definitely worth bringing to the Virtual Console, especially with the recently announced Castlevania game coming to the DS. Being the last NES Castlevania game not on the Virtual Console and the first two games and Super Castlevania IV's sucess on the Virtual Console make it a smart move and good game to add for this new Castlevania game. Definitely. Also, with a recent OFLC rating for the Virtual Console version, it is bound to come out soon. YES!

14. Mega Man 4 (Made & Published by Capcom) - Mega Man 4 is a great game, despite being seen as somewhat of a low point by fans. In fact, many fans even consider it the best in the series. Anyways, it's basic Mega Man for you. With Mega Man 3 recently announced to have recieved a OFLC rating for the Virtual Console, Mega Man 4 should hit...slowly...afterwards. Still, Mega Man 4 is either a game you absolutely love or you only moderately like. There are few people who are inbetween the two (me being one of them).

13. Final Fantasy III (Famicom-only; Made & Published by Square Soft [now Square Enix]) – Final Fantasy III added a butt load to the series. A new customizable class system, new jobs, and the ability to totally customize your teams with different classes, class combos, and whatnot, over 100 different class combinations are available to this game. Despite minimal plot, this games’ gameplay is pretty much seen as hands down the best of the 3 NES Final Fantasy games, and for very good reasons. With all this great gameplay, immense bosses, incredible enemies, loads of locales, and tons of places, enviornments, people, and quests, Final Fantasy III hails as a benchmark for RPG gaming. Still, with it’s DS form out (for about a year or two now), we might now see it on the Virtual Console (for a long time), sadly. Let us hope we see it on the Virtual Console soon, or we at least get one Final Fantasy title (soon).

12. Mega Man 3 (Made & Published by Capcom) – The first Mega Man game with sliding and the 3rd Mega Man game ever made and the 3rd on the NES. After the huge sucess of Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3 met a lot of sucess as well, and really made a good impact on the gaming world, and is seen as a sort of peak with the classic Mega Man series by many (before it went downhill for 3 or 4 games). Featuring a lot of cool weapons, items, bosses, and so forth, Mega Man 3 would be a great game to release on the Virtual Console, especially with Mega Man 9′s sucess on WiiWare, and Mega Man 1 and 2′s sucess on the Virtual Console. Hopefully Capcom deciedes to release it sooner rather then later, because quite frankly it would be great to see it back on the Virtual Console. With a recent OFLC rating for the Virtual Console version, it is bound to come out soon. Thank God Dr. Light.

11. Battletoads (NES/Famicom version; Made & Published by Rare[ware]) – Battletoads is remembered as a really good (yet still no well-known) Rare classic that is ridiculously hard. The NES version was one of the hardest versions of this game, making it a great and challenging game to put on the Virtual Console for hardcore gamers. If Rare would cooperate, this could definitely be on the Virtual Console. Maybe add a few difficulty levels to make it even harder and easier at the same time for those looking for insane challenges or only fairly hard challenges (whatever floats your boat). Definitely a good grade-A game worth adding to the Virtual Console vault!

10. Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! (Made & Published by Nintendo; not to be confused with “Punch-Out!!” or “Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream) – I’ve had enough of Mr. Dream’s lameness. I want to fight one of the greatest boxers of all-time-Mr. Mike Tyson! Mike Tyson really made Punch-Out!! a hit, and with this version of the game in celebration Punch-Out!! Wii, Punch-Out!! Wii could get better sales, and garner more of the classic audience. Seriously Nintendo-do it. Just do it.

9. Dragon Quest (released as Dragon Warrior outside of Japan; made & developed by Enix [now Square Enix]) – The game that put Enix on the map around the world, and is credited with the creation of the RPG genre, this game is one of the best games ever made by man. With a tons of remakes and re-releases, a Virtual Console release would be perfect. With an awesome battle system, tons of locals, great difficulty, loads of enemies, cool bosses, and just a overall non-stop action flow of gameplay, Dragon Quest would be a perfect addition to the Virtual Console, hands down.

8. Duck Tales ([NES/Famicom Version] Made & Published by Capcom) – Duck Tales in a NES classic that can hang with the best of the era, and is really underrated and underappreciated. Featuring amazing music, awesome levels, sweet gameplay, and is one of the best platformers not just on the NES, but of all-time. Definitely a true classic, that is what we expect from Capcom. And guess what? Capcom didn’t go sequel crazy with this one. They only made one sequel!!! Serioously though. Duck Tales on the Virtual Console. Do it. Many retro gamers would be happy.

7. Dragon Quest IV (released as Dragon Warrior IV [: Chapters of the Chosen] outside of Japan; made and published by Enix [now Square Enix]) - Dragon Warrior/Quest IV is generally seen as a high point-if not THE high point of RPGs of the 3rd generation of gaming (unless you consider Zelda a RPG). Featuring incredible gameplay, depth, characters, replayability (I’ve beaten it 4 times, and it still feels brand new), a long and extensive story, customizability, locations, weapons, intense difficulty, and great enemies, this game would be a PERFECT GAME for the Virtual Console. Seriously-perfect. It could quite possibly be the best (“classic”) RPG released on the Virtual Console yet if released-and I mean it. It’s that good.

6. Contra (NES [and Famicom] Version; Made & Published by Konami) – Contra is one of the best shooters and shooting series ever, and is possibly the most well-known 2D shooter of all-time, and is one of the most difficult games of all-time. Releasing this run and gun video game would be a smart move for Nintendo and would be bought by several retro, hardcore, and difficult game-beating gamers. Defintely worth releasing.

5. Final Fantasy (I) (made by Square Soft [Now Square Enix], & published by Square Soft [now Square Enix] in Japan & Nintendo in North America) – Final Fantasy is possibly one of the most well-known series of all-time, and this is the game that started it all. With amazing gameplay, challenging enemies, a high level of customizable characters, loads of dungeons, tons of towns, loads of stuff to do, and so forth, it’s been on so many systems, it’s hard to keep count. With the most recent re-release on the PSP, not being on the Virtual Console (or PSN [and XBLA for that matter]) is a crying shame. It would not just be a great promotion for Final Fantasy XIII and other possibly Final Fantasy games, but it would sell like crazy, and would allow many more gamers to experience this true classic (especially if they had the Famicom and remake Chapter 6 ending included). Definitely worth playing and brining to us on the Virtual Console for us all to enjoy all over again.

4. Tetris (NES/Famicom Version, with some features of other version; Made by Bullet Proof Software & Published by Nintendo) - I don’t even need to define this game. If there’s another version of Tetris being release on the Wii, WiiWare, DS, DSi, or whatever, this would be good promotion. Seriously-MAKE IT ON THE VIRTUAL CONSOLE ALREADY!!! We all know and love this game, and it would sell like crazy on the Virtual Console, guarenteed.

3. MOTHER [1] (commonly known outside of Japan as EarthBound Zero) (Famicom [cancelled NES release, but the only English cartridge of it was found and bought, and turned into one of the most played ROMs ever]; made by Shigesato Itoi [the person and company], APE, Inc., Pax Softnica, Nintendo Tokyo R&D, and Products [all Nintendo 1st parties], & published by Nintendo) – MOTHER was the first “real” RPG not to take place in the boring world of medieval RPGs [aside from a few pretty lame RPGs that take place in futurist worlds] that Dragon Quest [and Final Fantasy] got us into. MOTHER takes place sometime in the 1960′s or 70′s in America, protagonist Ninten goes on a quest to collect 8 melodies to free the world of Gigyas’ wrath. This amazing American satire video game is hands down one of the best American satire games ever made, one of the best RPGs ever made, and one of the hardest games ever made. With one of the best video game stories ever told (I mean it!), hilarious American jokes, and an interesting and pretty much perfect Japanese perspective of America from the eyes of mad genius Shigesato Itoi, interesting and varied locales, greatly done characters, unforgetable music, awesomely hilarious enemies, great bosses, and a totally unforgetable realistically unrealistic setting and story, this game is one of the great games ever made. This game would easily be up there with Super Mario RPG as one of the best-selling games on the Virtual Console, PERIOD!

2. Duck Hunt (Made & Published by Nintendo) – Most of us have played and love this classic shooting and simple game. Releasing it would be ridiculously awesome on Nintendo’s part, and it would be great promotion for any future Duck Hunt series entries (DO IT ALREADY!!!). Seriously-why isn’t this out yet on the Virtual Console!?!?!? It’s like Nintendo likes throwing away millions of dollars!!! We all know it, we all love it, we all want it. GIVE US THE GAME NINTENDO, AND WE’LL GIVE YOU OUR MONEY, GLADLY!!!

1. Fire Emblem [1] (called Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi in Japan/Japanese; Famicom only; made Itelligent Systems [a Nintendo 1st party company], and published by Nintendo) – With a remake in Fire Emblem [11]: Shadow Dragon out in Japan and soon to hit North America and later the PAL regions, this would be a perfect addition to the Virtual Console. This game is credited with the creation of the (real-time) strategy genre-which is one of the best and most underrrated genres. Releasing this on the Virtual Console in all countries (which by the way it’s not even out in JAPAN!) would be a smart move, and would make the game that made Fire Emblem and Marth more accessible for Smash fans, and would be destined to be a mega-hit on the Virtual Console (and would get Intelligent Systems more out there). Definitely a game worth play, getting for 500 Wii points, used for advertisement of Fire Emblem [11]: Shadow Dragon, and adding to the Virtual Console. Definitely.

So that concludes my list. Please post any comments, thoughts, and so forth on this list and whatnot. Also, I have a SNES and N64 list in the works (and I plan to release both in the coming weeks), so I hope you enjoy that soon (along with hopefully a non-Nintendo console list, and DSi Virtual Console-esk list).

We all know the Gameboy same generation hardware upgrade syndrome. First it was the Gameboy, with the original Gameboy, then Gameboy Lite, then Gameboy Light (a Gameboy lite with a light), then Gameboy Camera. Then with the Gameboy Advance we got the SP and then the Micro (which couldn’t even play GB or GBC GAMES=LAME!!!). Then with the DS we got the much improved and sales-changing DS Lite, and now we’re getting the DSi(Pod). So seeing as how Wii sales pwn DS sales, and DS sales pwn everything else, this is to be expected. But will this be the end-or will we get 1 or 2 more new “Wiis” after this=???

Personally, I say 2 upgrades for the Wii and no more. The Xbox 360 has already gotten like 5 package deals (3 of which are lame), and the PS3 has like 7 kagillion package deals (all of which are rip-offs, and 2 or 3 are ridiculously lame and stupid and decieving). Now what the next same-gen Wii should do is add:

-Make more games focus a lot more on graphics (Galaxy looks about the same as Sunshine, for example).

-Have better online connectivity and options that at least tries to reach Xbox Live and Playstation Network’s online system.

-Have a better online system (that is simiiliar to the 360 and PS3).

-Have AT LEAST 10GB of storage room.

-Get Blu-Ray disc (and DVD) playability for more memory storage, better discs, and a reason to bump Wii disc prices $5 (NOT $10!!!). Also, it attracts movie watchers to buy your system…and maybe they will play a few games…and maybe they will buy a few games…and possibly become addicted to “playing with their Wii!!! o_O

-Have it come with the new Wii “standard” controller.

-Have it come with not just WiiSports, WiiPlay, or WiiSports Resort, but with one or several of those Gamecube games being remade for the Wii.

-Increase the price to at least $300.

-Have more USB slots, and more advanced slots like that.

-Have a ethernet slot in it.

-Keep Gamecube disc backwards compatibility.

-Keep the current Wii.

-Allow the transfer of the “original Wii” to this new Wii so users can upgrade fairly simple, and “trade in” their current Wii….or sell it on eBay for like $800… >_<

For more information and for my “sources”, visit:

So yeah, that’s what I say. What say you=???

Well guys, the Nintendo Press Conference has come, and we’ve learned a lot. Club Nintendo is FINALLY coming to America, the new DS, Punch-Out is going to get a 7th generation of gaming entry (that looks like the originals, only cel-shaded), as well as several titles. However, nothing struck my eye more then what Nintendo of America Vice President Cammie Dunaway told IGN, and what was shown at the conference. Pikmin (the original) is coming out on the Wii with a remade control scheme. Yes-Pikmin. And so this made me think “Geez, what other games would be great with a Wii Virtual Reality control scheme?” So far Nintendo has confirmed this with only GCN games, but I thought I would expand to N64 games (as I image they will AT LEAST expand to that as well), SNES and Super Famicom games, NES and Famicom games, and heck-even Virtua Boy nevermind, the Virtual Boy is fail! Game & Watch (that’s a handheld system! Nevermind!) and old Nintendo arcade games! So I compiled this list of the 25 games I think would be the best games remade on the Wii, first, second, and third party (and even some games that were ported to Nintendo systems, even! o_O).

And when I make a list, I make it good, am I right? So yeah-the top 25 games that need to be ported to the Wii with “Wii controls” (including the 7 confirmed ones already [Pikmin 1&2, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Metroid Prime 1&2, Mario Power Tennis, and Chibi Robo]). Also, I’m not going to include a game with a lot of games in it, like Super Mario All-stars, Nintendo Vs., The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition, and so forth, even if they are totally awesome. Plus a few games (Pokémon Snap and Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition), so I won’t be including those, along with a ton of Rare games that we’ll be lucky to include on the Virtual Console (Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Diddy Kong Racing [due to Nintendo's business strategy, unless they release it several years down the road], 007: Goldeneye, Killer Instincts, Perfect Dark [N64 Version], Conker’s Bad Fur Day, and so forth) So with that said, let us jump right in!

Honorable Mentions:

-Duck Hunt (Nintendo Entertainment System/Nintendo Famicom) – Duck Hunt is one of the earliest and best of the addicting ”pick up and play” games. The shooting is this game is great, but with the fairly new Wii Zaper (and Wiimotion Plus?) it would be great. Add in more customizability and you got an even more addicting games. But seriously…you know what be even more awesome? A FRIGGEN DUCK HUNT SEQUEL (other then thaat Japan-only “Nintendo Vs.” series thing). Yes…I did put it on this list JUST for that!

-Mario Party 3 (Nintendo 64) - This games has a ton of interesting and unique mini-games that are ridiculously fun. Adding in virtual reality into this could be pretty interesting. Anything from shaking the Wiimote to roll the dice, to using it to tilt your character, steer a plane, and so forth would all be interesting virtual reality “good gimmicks” to add-if done properly. It would definitely be an interesting game to experiment this with. Mario Party 1 and 2 would also be very worthy of this as well.

-Pilotwings (Super Nintendo Entertainment System/Super Famicom) – Pilotwings is basically a standard flight training game, but it’s pretty addicting. If it was remade on the Wii with Wii controls it would be even better. Along it’s fairly underappreciated N64 sequel (Pilotwings 64), they would make great Wii remakes-and I MEAN IT!!! Definitely a worthy remake, along with making a Pilotwings Wii game.

-Mach Rider (Nintendo Entertainment System/Nintendo Famicom) – Mach Rider is a classic game, despite minimal replay value. Give this game simple Wiimote sideways virtual racing controls (whether basic or Mario Kart Wii style), and you got yourself a game definitely worth 5 3 2 bucks!

-Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (Nintendo Gamecube) – I really don’t like how anti-competitive Double Dash!! is (although Mew2King doesn’t mind, pwn’ing all world records and such), but that doesn’t take away from how great this game is. It would be a great additon to the list of (Gamecube) games set to be remade on the Wii, especially with Mario Kart Wii’s amazing control schematics. That would simply be a great addition to a great game. Maybe add in online just to make it even more epic Nintendo. Maybe. It would be almost impossible for Nintendo to not re-release the Gamecube’s 3rd best-selling game on the Wii, so that is where it fails to qualify for this list (along with being way over the top n00by).

-Excitebike 64 (Nintendo 64) – Excitebike probably couldn’t work with the Wii virtual reality schematics. Excitebike 64 is an interesting alternative. It is also a pretty awesome racing game (though not AS awesome) with a lot of great features and gameplay, and a stage builder. Seriously though-why isn’t it on the VC yet?

Games Already Set to be remade, in my special “top 7″ list:

7. Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (Nintendo Gamecube) – This one kinda confuses me. The controls are great already, and unless they want to improve them or add songs, they have no reason to remake it. That is…unless Nintendo is whoring us for money…or trying to get us to get this truly underappreciated game. Seriously, this is the best game to happen to the Donkey Kong franchise since Rare was running the series.

6. Chibi-Robo (Nintendo Gamecube) – I haven’t played this game, but it has a cult following, and I’ve read quite a bit about it. It is definitely a worthy remake, although Nintendo should try to pursue this “different” game to make it more mainstream, and more well-known.

5. Mario POWER Tennis (Nintendo Gamecube) – Mario POWER Tennis is probably the best Mario sports spin-off game ever. Giving it Wii functionality-along with possibly new characters and content is going to be drop dead amazing. Definitely a worthy addition.

4. Pikmin [1] (Nintendo Gamecube) – Pikmin is a classic game that redefined no less then 2 or 3 genres at the same time. This briliant strategy/adventure/action/tactical game redefines gaming in so many ways, it is almost unbelieveable. With addicting levels, areas, and so forth, Pikmin is truly one of the best games on the Gamecube, as well as one of the best games to come out in the 6th generation of gaming, PERIOD!

3. Pikmin 2 (Nintendo Gamecube) – Pikmin 2 is basically an upgraded Pikmin, with a even more addicting story, single-player, and a brand new and fresh multiplayer. This game is totally addicting is almost every way imaginable. While it isn’t as revolutionary as the original, it is definitely far more fun in every way.

2. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Nintendo Gamecube) – Prime 2 is like the Pikmin 2 of compared to the original Metroid Prime. Prime 2 has the same controls as Prime 1, but some different mechanics. All your weapons (minus your main blaster) have limited ammo, and you have to constantly switch between the light and dark worlds in a way so brilliantly similiar to ”A Link to the Past”. Add in the incredible enemies, incredible controls, physics, gameplay, and enviornment and you got a great game to add to the list of games to be remade with Wii controls. And the best part about this is It was 1 of the 7 games Nintendo announced to be remade on the Wii with Wii motion controls. Great job Nintendo. Great job.

1. Metroid Prime (Nintendo Gamecube) – Metroid Prime is hands down the most revolutionary first person shooter on a console since Goldeneye, and it is also one-if not the best single-player FPS of all-time (only competing with it’s two sequels and BioShock, of course). This game is amazingly revolutionary, with great sound, music, graphics, and above all-incredibly original gameplay. With all these boring same ole’ same ole’ FPS’ out these days, the FPS genre is probably the least advancing major genre. Metroid Prime changed it upside down, and is not just one of the best single-player FPS of all-time, but one of the best FPS of all-time, as well as one of the best first person adventure games of all-time, PERIOD! Giving it Metroid Prime 3′s control scheme (with WiiMotion Plus as well to get ride of the lame phazon whip lameness) would make it ridiculously awesome, and even more HARDCORE!!!

Right about now I wanna thank Nintendo for going through with this, and planning on releasing all of these games next year (or even this year! o_O). Let us hope they achieve even more greatness. Let us hope all the Wii virtual reality controls makes these games ROCK EVEN MORE THEN THEY ALREADY DOOOO!!!

The Top 25

25. *tied with Wario World* Luigi’s Mansion (Nintendo Gamecube) - You know that one kinda good game you got for the Gamecube with minimal replay value? Yeah, Luigi’s Mansion (or Wario World) IS THAT GAME! Imagine that with Wii motion controls (especially with Motion Sensor plus), and it would double it’s replay value. Which by the way, that adds up to 3 full play throughs, instead of 1 and some goofing around. It would be fairly nice.

25. *tied with Luigi’s Mansion* Wario World (Nintendo Gamecube) – Wario World is Wario’s version of Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi’s Mansion, finishing off the triangle game series. It’s pretty short (like 10 to 20 hours to beat short), and doesn’t have a lot of replay value, but it’s a great ”pick up and play and beat and put down” kind of game. Adding in Wii motion control schematics would at least triple the replay value, and would make a fun game even funner. Making the price cheap would only further the effect of this, and would definitely make this underappreciated game more…”appreciated”.

24. F-Zero (Super Nintendo Entertainment System/Nintendo Super Famicom) – F-Zero is a cult classic. Literally. I mean it. This game has a ton of awesome stages and awesome gameplay. Now image it with the Wiimote sideways control scheme. Tilt to turn any direction (or use the control pad), A for boost, and shake constantly for constant speed (whilst using the control pad). If the maximum speed was increased for the purpose of making this game more awesome, that would be EPIC! It would totally be worth the 5 dolloars. Seriously. That’s not a joke. I’d do it! Especially if it had online. 4-player online! Also, adding in the F-Zero 2 levels, gameplay, and whatnot would be a nice addition, especially since that game is currently a Japan-only title. Seriously Nintendo, DO IT!!! GIVE US BOTH!!!

23. 1080° Snowboarding (Nintendo 64) - This game is a cult classic, and is one of the best sports games ever made. Featuring awesome controls, great courses, loads of customizability, lots of insane features, this is definitely an awesome game. Add in similiar controls to SSX: BLUR (except better, smoother, and crisper with Wiimotion Plus), and you got yourself even more greatness. Maybe increase the number of characters, stages, and add a stage builder. But the real kicker (after Wii virtual reality controls) would be online (4 players on up). That would definitely be a great addition, along with game. Definitely a game worth remaking.

22. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Super Nintendo Entertainment System/Nintendo Super Famicom) – This game just came out on the Virtual Console (and is currently the best-selling game on the Virtual Console), and it is one of the best RPGs ever. Seriously. This is a game that’s sooooooooooooo close to perfection, it’s ridiculous. Anyways…I don’t know what exactly it could do outside of combat, though. For combat I image some kind of motion control countering and double hits, as well as virtual reality controls for blocking, super attacks, and whatnot. Outside of combat the only ideas I have are using the Wiimote as like shaking the Wiimote to jump, amongst other ideas. Still, it would be a great idea, especially for Square Enix (since they like to take our money on remakes…A LOT! XD).

21. Paper Mario (Nintendo 64) – Paper Mario is an incredibly mix of classic Mario and the RPGness of modern-day RPGs, and was the N64′s last great game. If recieved a small face lift with Wii virtual reality motion control, new features, new attacks, and so forth, then it would be more then worthy of being remade. Definitely a good game to remake, but making the remake worthy will be the hard part.

20. Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64 [Nintendo 64 version; not the Virtua Boy or Nintendo Game Boy Version] – Mario Tennis is definitely the best Mario sport spin-off series, hands down! Add in virtual reality Wii controls with the Wii+Nunchunk schematics and you got yourself EVEN MORE greatness. Also, give us some of the RPG elements of the exellent handheld Mario Tennis RPG. At least give us the first handheld Mario Tennis’ aspect of it, along with the characters from that game that you would get via link cable, if not the characters that said games’ exclusive characters as well. Also, new stages, more difficulty settings, more options, more characters, more stages, more features, and online would all make great features. Definitely a game worth remaking.

19. Mega Man Legends ([released on the N64 under the name "Mega Man 64"] Sony Platstation/Nintendo 64/PC/Playstation Portable) – Mega Man Legends is a great game, especially for it’s time. It’s lock-on system-based gameplay is pretty incredible, and so is it’s incredible gameplay and sense of exploration. The only beef I have on this game is it’s graphics haven’t aged well, it’s graphics were not too far above par at it’s release, and it’s camera is kind of buggy. Anyways, re-releasing this game on the Wii with Wiimotion Plus controls would be great. You could have total control of the shooting like a realistic shooter. Keep the lock-on functionality…”locked on”, add the control pad as camera control (similar to the Wind Wakers’ camera control?). Add all that in and this would be a great re-release/remake. So…how about Mega Man Legends 2, eh? That’d also be pretty cool (to come with it). I’d totally dig it!

18. Star Fox Adventures (Nintendo Gamecube) – Star Fox Adventures may not have been the best Star Fox game, but it was an interesting attempt by a failing Rare. However, it was a great game, to say the least. A little repetitive, but great, with great music, gameplay (despite repetition), and of course those amazing graphics. Anyways, add in Wii virtual reality controls for the few Arwing deals, the main combat, and so forth and you got yourself a fairly interesting remake. Maybe not a GREAT remake, but an interesting one.

17. Sonic Adventure (SEGA Dreamcast/Nintendo Gamecube ["DX: Director's Cut" only]/PC) – Sonic Adventure was the first great 3D Sonic games, and is still one of the few. Imagine playing this classic with actually well-rendered cutscenes, a much improved camera, Sonic Unleashed-esk Wiimotion Plus Controls (instead of Sonic and the Secret Rings’ control scheme), more speed, more unlockables, more in game balance and glitch elimination, and so forth. That would be simply great additions to the already great game. Just as long as it isn’t “DX: Director’s Cut” failure stuff, it’s all good.

16. Star Fox (Super Nintendo Entertainment System/Nintendo Super Famicom; released as “Starwing” in Europe) – Star Fox is one of the greatest games on the Super Nintendo, with awesome graphics, intense combat, crisp clean controls, amazing bosses, and incredible enviornments. Giving it Wii motion controls as a way of steering your vehicle would be incredible. Definitely worth the remake…especially if they included all the stuff that was going to be in Star Fox 2. Definitely.

15. Wave Race 64 (Nintendo 64) – Wave Race 64 is A CLASSIC! If you haven’t played it, I pity you. The racing in this game is incredible, the controls are great, the water effects are awesome, the flips are awesome, it has loads of secrets, and awesome stages. Already Nintendo is making a “remake” mini-game of it in Wii Sports Resort, and it was also one of the first N64 titles released on the Virtual Console. Adding in more stages, more balance between characters, possible online multiplayer, more stages, customizable stages, and of course brilliant Wii virtual reality controls would make this a great remake of a already great game. Definitely worth remaking.

14. Sonic Adventure 2 (:Battle; SEGA Dreamcast/Nintendo Gamecube) – Sonic Adventure 2 was one of the best Sonic games ever made. Giving it total Wii virtual reality controls would be great. You could give it the new Sonic Unleashed control schematics (which by the way are not the same as Sonic and the Secret Rings), a better camera, more balanced multiplayer, better cutscenes (that actually fit the talking animations!!!), more features, more stages, and so forth. O, and a new character or two would be nice. Definitely another great oppurtunity for SEGA to take our money. Definitely.

13. Donkey Kong 64 (Nintendo 64) - Donkey Kong 64 may not have been the best Donkey Kong game ever, but it was a great attempt to try and bring the series to the realm of 3D gaming. With Wii virtual reality, we could add extra Wiimote shaking to do each characters’ special attacks, have the Wiimote pointer control where you shoot with each characters gun, and so forth. Maybe add more content, unlockables, and multiplayer stuff and whatnot. That would be worthy of bringing this great game back, for sure.

12. Paper Mario (2) : The Thousand Year Door (Nintendo Gamecube) – This game is one of the best RPGs on the Gamecube, along with Tales of Symphonia, amongst others. Adding simple Wii Virtual Reality elements to this games paper transformations and combat would be very worthy of a remake. Other cool additions would be new characters, quests, tasks, secrets, badges, the ability to replay the special levels (where they auto-save to the main menu), and even more partners (Peach, Luigi, AND Bowser!!!). That would all be very sweet.

11. Star Fox Assualt (Nintendo Gamecube) – Star Fox Assault was a pretty good attempt to bring back the franchise to mainstream auidences and Star Fox 64 greatness, but it didn’t quite reach it. It featured quite a lot of good content, though. It could use the virtual reality controls (especially those Landmasters, which don’t have that good of controls), new content, a more balanced multiplayer (where it’s actually BALANCED!!!), more playable characters in multiplayer, and maybe even extra missions or online multiplayer. As long as it gets virtual reality controls, the landmaster is fixed, the camera is a little better, and the multiplayer, weapons, and vehicles are all more balanced, you got yourself a great remake of a great game.

10. F-Zero X (Nintendo 64) – F-Zero X has incredible graphics, tons of characters each with individual stats, pre-race stat inhancement options, loads of stages, awesome stages, incredible speed, awesome gameplay, great music, and so forth. Give it Wii virtual reality controls-whether Mario Kart Wii-esk controls or Wiimote Nunchunk combo controls-either would be EXELLENT! Maybe increase the max speed similiar to what I said with F-Zero and you got yourself a potentially incredibly ridiculously amazing game, especially with the Nintedo 64 Disk Drive (N64DD) expansion pack game (and it’s features, new stages, and stage builer), online, and other stuff like that. Add in AT LEAST 16 player online (or up to 30 or 32 if you want), and you got yourself an amazingly worthy remake of an amazing game.

9. Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64) – We’ve all played this game, and it ROCKS!!! Imagine it on the Wii with Mario Kart Wii’s controls! That would be great. Maybe add more characters (Kamek, DK Jr., Diddy Kong, Koopa Troopa, etc.), more stages, and whatnot, but the biggest kicker after Mario Kart Wii controls would have to be online. 4-8 player online would simply rock. This is definitely a title Nintendo needs to try and bring back…to steal our money.

8. F-Zero G/X (Nintendo Gamecube [A/X is it's counterpart, and is in Arcades]) – F-Zero G/X is one of the best racing games ever made. It has tons of great characters, intense difficulty, great stages, and a fairly good story. Add in online (at least 16 or don’t do it!!!) and the virtual reality controls of Wiimotion Plus and you have got greatness. Also, it would be a great promotion for F-Zeri Wii…when it’s “officially” announced.

7. Metal Gear Solid [: The Twin Snakes] (Sony Playstation/PC; Nintendo Gamecube for The Twin Snakes) – Metal Gear Solid is one of the greatest games ever made. With incredible gameplay, amazing bosses, a great story, awesome characters, incredible voice acting in all languages, incredible action, and amazing enviornments, it a for sure legendary game. The Twin Snakes was a pretty good remake, but this could be better. Add in Wiimotion controls for first person view, allow first person view movement and more camera options (like in Metal Gear Sold 4: Guns of the Patriots; don’t allow this in the boss fight with Psycho Mantis, though), maybe more weapons and areas to explore, possibly new difficulty levels, and you’ve got a great re-remake of one of the greatest achievements in all of video games.

6. Star Fox 64 (Nintendo 64; called “Lylat Wars” in Europe) – Star Fox 64 is a classic. We all know and love it. The voice acting, levels, story, multiplayer…everything about it is great. It’s got a lot of everything. Now imagine it with Wii motion controls (without falling out of your chair!!!). Add in Wiimotion controls, possibly online, more multiplayer stages, a more indepth multiplayer, and extra content and you got yourself the premium version of Star Fox 64. Now go do a BARREL ROLL EINSTEIN TO CHARGE TO DESTROY THE THREE ENEMY BALLS. O wait………..I CAN’T LET YOUR BREW THAT, STARBUCKS!!!

5. Super Mario Sunshine (Nintendo Gamecube) – Super Mario Sunshine seems to be hated by everyone (including Reggie [who is a loser]). Well they’re all wrong about it being a bad game. Whilst Super Mario 64 isn’t overrated (although it is the game in which games followed this “easy” trend), Sunshine is ridiculously underrated-and is about as good-if not as good or BETTER then 64. A Wii remake would be a perfect place to display it’s greatness. Allow pointing your Wiimote (with Wiimotion Plus content) to aim your Water (while holding down a button), make spinning the Nunchunk do your Mario Tornado (-thing), and make shaking your Wiimote constantly allow your water jetpack to fly, your water booster to boost, and your super speed thing to begin running (and constantly shake or hold the button you hold at the same time to keep speeding). This and a bit more motion sensor control stuff, extra content, added difficulty levels, and whatnot would make this greatly underappreciated game more worth appreciation. All in all, I tip my hat off the Super Mario Sunshine for it’s greatness and originality.

4. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (Nintendo 64) -The classic game of going back and forth and back of forth to redo different events and whatnot would be a perfect addition to remade Wii games. Add in Twilight Princess controls plus Wiimotion Plus, maybe no pre-animated slashes (although that’s unlikely), more areas to explore, more difficulty levels, more “extra” masks, more freedom, and new items and you got yourself one of the greatest achievements in all of gaming achieving one of the greatest achievements….AGAIN!!!

3. Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64/Nintendo DS [Either version would be nice]) – The first incredible 3D game, Super Mario 64 has a little of everything. The only problem is the fairly recent DS version might be the chance of it not happening. If this remake was to happen, the Wii motion controls would be subtle, like in Galaxy. Shake the Wiimote to instantly fly, to punch (and kick), or whatever. A small change like that would be awesome, possibly along with the characters and stuff from Super Mario 64DS. Adding Wario, Luigi, Yoshi (and maybe Waluigi) would be awesome. Just add something new that SM64DS didn’t add ontop of Wii motion sensor controls (and extra difficulty levels?) and you got yourself at worst a fairly worthy remake of an incredible game.

2. The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker (Nintendo Gamecube) – the Wind Waker is a pure classic. While it’s easy, it’s a pretty long game (the word record speed run is around 9 hours, lol!), and one of the greatest games ever made, PERIOD! This game is one of the greatest games ever made, and has THE BEST CAMERA EVER IN A VIDEO GAME in my opinion. It would simple be THE PERFECT Gamecube game to remake on the Wii. Add in the Twilight Princess control schematics (maybe better controls with Wiimotion Plus, and no pre-animated slashing), and bring us virtual reality controls at it’s best. The only problem I would have is with no C-stick the camera wouldn’t be as good as the Gamecube version. However, if the new Wii “standard” controller has virtual reality schematics it would be nice, but other then that, the Twilight Princess control schematics (upgraded!!!) would be better. Also, more areas to explore (literally 2/3rds of the world mpa was cut this game was soooooooooo huge), more difficulty levels (ZELDA II INSANE!!!), more items, and more secrets and whatnot would be nice. That would make one of the greatest achievements ever achieved by man EVEN GREATER!!!

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64 [Master Quest is on the Nintendo Gamecube, along with the origianl Ocarina of Time in two different package sets]) - That’s right, OCARINA OF TIME! The highest rated video game of all-time. The Godfather (Parts 1 and 2) of video games. The perfect game. Yes I said it: PERFECT! Tons of game have been “close” to perfection, but Ocarina of Time IS PERFECT! You know what I think of everytime I hear the coach in the movie “Friday Night Lights” says “be perfect?” Ocarina of Time! and SSB, SSBM, SSBB, SMB3, Twilight Princess, Super Mario Bros. 3, MGS2, and Super Mario Bros. You know what would make it even more perfect? The Wiimotion controls that Twilight Princess had, and even some of the controls it didn’t have. Add in Master Quest as an option (and maybe a new Quest) and you got yourself the perfect game-perfected to perfection of perfection. Seriously…I’m having a major gamergasm. Do it Nintendo. Just DO IT! NOAW!!! That is how you make perfection even shinier…by giving it it’s own sword. Seriously-no pre-animated swords play (even if that probably won’t happen! >_>), Wiimotion Plus perfection, improved Twilight Princess controls, more schematics, more dungeons, more areas, more difficulty levels, more challenges…MORE EVERYTHING! Do that and you’ve got a bunch of retro, classic, hardcore, N64, and Zelda gamers having foam coming out of their mouths for the next 1,000 years. It would make the biggest media related achievement since Super Mario Bros. an even bigger achievement. Nintendo can’t stop remaking their greatest single-player achievement, because it’s THAT GOOD!!!

So that tops off my top 25 list and whatnot. So…what say you=???

Hey fellow smash fans, what’s happenin’? Johnknight1 here, with a brand new idea of blog series. This series I will be running is called “The Top 25″. In it, I will take anything from smash, and make a top 25 list based on my (and sometimes other’s) opinions. I could do the Top 25 best character moveset ideas, the 25 best attack ideas in smash (whether they are in smash or not), the top 25 most nuetral stages in smash, the 25 most original attacks in any smash game, and the 25 stupidest ideas in smash, for example.

It doesn’t have to be what was in smash or is, but what could be, or even just on ideas for smash. Whatever it is, a countdown of the best and worst things in smash by my opinion could be intresting. Of course with all your opinions, and maybe even a second (and third?) opinion, it could be A LOT more intresting.

In fact, if you have a good “Top 25″ idea, just send it to me, and if I like it, I might run with it (and give you credit for the idea! XD). And the best part is-it isn’t limited to smash. I could cover the top 25 most revolutionary video games ever, the top 25 best-developed video game characters, the top 25 major video game mistakes, and the top 25 most overrated games of all-time (*cough*MarioParty4-8*cough*), for example. The sky is the limit with this one. I think it could be intresting. Anyways, tell me what ya’ll think (lulz, I said “ya’ll” XD). “We’re gonna have fun with this thing”.

It’s about time the blog got a new entry, I’m hoping to start it back off on the right foot now. Okay so from what I’ve seen so far competition is great but spometimes I can see players get in the doldrums of repetitive play. What do I mean? I mean that there is no mindgaming or rather any new form of mindgaming. Ats stop as well as so does tactical play. Players even though they want to play in a competitive environment go for the same struts. It’s demeaning and sadly we all do it.

But how can we get past the doldrums of smash? One way is learning new advance techniques and applying them. Then there is learning different mind gaming tactics. For example, a Ivysaur player might be prone to always go for a razor leaf to grab combination…which is great but gets old fast. I’ve learned to change a razor leaf into 3 to 4 different attacks and fakes. Most of them wield less results than a side special grapple/dash attack combo but they do make me far less predictable. Now I know I’m still not the best player to be saying this but I’m just trying to make a point.

But this all seems like common sense right? Of course but there are tactics that can help you stay out of a smash halt. Playing against different opponents is one way. I really enjoy plying against Johnknight for the sheer fact that I never know what character he is going to use. It does many things, first it preares you for multiple player challenges, second it develops your meta game and makes you more unpredicatable (That being if you learn from mistakes). However even still this might seem like common sense, but still knowing this we should learn to try playing multiple characters with our other shining fist members in mind.

Also try using a Journal. Yeah I know it sounds dumb but it is a very effective technique and works much like a planner. I will recommend this site for those interested.

http://www.livejournal.com/

Keeping a journal is like having our own personal blog. Basically it can keep track of any new things you learn, leads you find, and progress you made. And with it in word form we can share it at a faster rate and learn from each other without having to have 6 million lost threads on the forums. Such a thing lets you be organized, gives you leads and just makes smash much more enjoyable. Just try it out for a week or so and see how it feels. You don’t have to contribute info everyday but everytime you learn something new.

These are just some different things to throw into your game. It should help make the group leap out of the doldrums and into a adavanced competitive outlook for the days ahead.

Okay, in case you haven’t, READ THIS THREAD!!! It is a thread on why Heavy Brawl SHOULD BE the new competitve standard mode. In case you haven’t heard, many players feel Brawl is going backwards. Instead of developing combos, and a offensive meta-game, we’re getting more defensive, camping more (you know who you ARE!), not learning many offensive (advanced) techniques, we’re learning more AND TOO MANY defensive (advanced) techniques and so forth. Even some of the most well-respected and appreciated spokespeople for the competiteve/pro smash community like Gimpyfish (read his thoughts here on the matter by the way) and MookieRah have said we’re going backwards, or we’re not going anywhere, or rather, not that fast.

Some agree with this, some do not. So, allow me to show multiple sides of this deep story. There is no denying Brawl is the most defensive smash game. That is basically a undeniable fact. Multiple air dodging, perfect shielding, shield grabbing is improved, and it is a lot harder to combo, due to wierd physics on it (I forget the actual word for it). In other words-combos happen, but not as often. They appear in quick, fast motions ONLY, and not in long chains. It’s a lot smaller, and not as long. And there is a lot more focus on the A-A-A combo as well, which has it’s ups and downs, like overreliance on it, and quick, fast, and easy small combos. While there is enough to last for a good while, I’m putting the smash community to max at 4 years from Brawl’s release on Brawl. That is when I’m putting on the competitive decline.

Anyways, there is a simple decline of competitiveness people fear will happen if we DO NOT use Heavy Brawl. I know, it is impossible to use it online. Which is why online tournaments will continue using the standard Brawl for online tournaments. They simply have no other choices. Seeing as how online tournaments are going, they are here to stay. Forever. Trust me, they are NOT GOING ANYWHERE! They are permante, and permanentely bigger then live tournaments.

Now, for this whole Heavy Brawl thing, I must say I LIKE THE IDEA…of trying it out. However, I think we need to further advance the stadard Brawl before making any transitions. We’ve found a recent Squirtle offensive technique that allows Squirtle basically to SUPER WAVEDASH and ATTACK AT THE SAME TIME! There was a recent discovery with Pikachu called “the Quick Attack cancel”, that heavily speeds of Pikachu’s offensive movement. This helps both of these characters counter the defensive GIANT that is Brawl. Brawl’s extremely defensive gameplay is what needs to be counter with advanced techniques, that we, as a community, discover. Beating the shield and power shield is the first priorety of the competitve community in order to win. And firstly, we gotta think strategy. Secondly, we gotta think techniques.

But all in all, the biggest problem is spam camping. R.O.B., Toon Link, Snake, Pit, Samus, Lucas, Ness, Falco, Captain Olimar, and a few others have been known to have players camp as them (online and off) a lot. And you know what? IT’S A GOOD, CHEAP, PUSSY STRATEGY! It works! Camping is better in Brawl then smash 64 and Melee combined! Seriously, it’s overpowered. So many people camp like scrubs…and WIN! It is SOOOOO RIDICULOUS! The guy who actually won Smash Wars won by camping the crap out of people with his R.O.B. I’m DEAD SERIOUS! Final Destination has now become a camper hell hold now, along with Jungle Japes from Melee. And Yoshi’s Island (Brawl) is considered the anti-campler ground!

All in all, this looks like a possibility in the far future. Notice I said far. WE as a competitive community need to consider this possibility, and save it for later. Firstly, we need to save the competitive community from going back to maining Melee. That would create chaos, and destroy the smash bros. competitive community, forever! We don’t wanna do that, now do we? So fellow competitive smashers alike, stick with regular Brawls for now. Let us keep digging and diving into Brawl’s meta-game. We have only the defensive blue print of it, and the basic counters (with some more advance ones). Let us find the Brawl offensive meta-game first.

If after the next year or two we can’t find enough to counter this monsterous defense, let’s try heavy Brawl. In fact, let’s try Heavy Brawl later this year, and compare it to basic Brawl. So competitve community, please be more patient, and wait a while while we, as a community discover things in Brawl we wouldn’t normally look for or find. Now is not the time to rush, quarrel, or make stupid threats like quitting the competitve community. Now is the smash community’s time of need. We need to stay as a whole, above all. Nothing wrong with STILL HAVING MELEE TOURNAMENTS, but we can’t have Melee as our focus. :marth: We have to focus on here, now, and Brawl, firstly. While we’re at it, we gotta focus on Brawl’s future, and the possibility of using Heavy Brawl as the live tournament basis. That, my friends, is the only way the competitve smash community will stay together.

We don’t need whinning now. That only hurts us. Leaving the smash community all-together is even worse. What we need to do is find, discuss, debate, and reach solutions and conclusions. As someone one said (literally; they go by anamous) ”If you are not a part of the solution, you are part of the problem.” This is definitely true in this situation, sadly. But I think things will turn out for the best, as they usually do. Let us hope for the best, and stick together through the best and the worst as a smash bros. competitve community, online and off. Until we find “the technique” that changes Brawl’s gameplay upside down, we got to go with what’s best. Eventually, that will probably mean playing Heavy Brawl as the competitve offline Brawl form. Until next time, I’m Johnknight1, and I’m out.
